She drip-dropped
In slow-mo, Like water from an icicle Falling to the snow. She rolled like honey Along the walls of Her clear, glass jar, Until she swallowed Herself whole. Hours to days, For eternities She lay In waiting for Changes she was Too afraid to face. I struggled with it when I thought about liquids changing to solids. Then I began to think of it a little more literally. I listed all of the states I moved to as a kid, and countries now as an adult.. Then I thought about the transformations I made as I transitioned to each place...
Utah- from egg to womb to human Washington DC- from west to east; from mormon to baptist/catholic Virginia- from family to military North Carolina- from the black kid to the mixed kid Washington DC- from dependent adolescent to dependent adult Florida- from bachelors to masters New York- from student to teacher South Africa- from teacher to Fulbright Thailand- from teacher to expat Thailand------------------------ To change states is my constant To transform is my norm To stay still is my achilles heel I am a master of my field Changing forms as will I am a novice at being mindful, A novice at being still. Love is not a cookbook
Love is not a song Love is not a poem that goes on a bit too long Love is not a thousand sweet red roses on your bed Nor a gentle early morning kiss on your forehead Love is not the Taj Mahal Or a top suite at the Ritz And it's certainly not a compilation of Bryan Adams' Greatest Hits Love's an endless buffet A culinary feat That's not always all that tasty But it's all we've got to eat. So let us try a recipe If we really must A kilogram of passion Laced with alcoholic lust A sprinkling of humour And a dash of sunny weather Plus a tablespoon of stubborness To hold it all together We'll simmer it for twenty years - Put it on our plates And realise the same stuff every day Stops tasting all that great We need some tart surprises We need some added grot. We want ice cream, we want broccoli Mushed together in the pot. Love is ecstasy and anger It's pain and foolish hope It's chucking someone overboard Then throwing them a rope. Love's a gesture, unassuming: No one notices but you So when you find that something - grab it Add it to the stew But love is not a cookbook Love is every possible meal. It's the starter, main, and pudding It's everything you feel. So what do you want to eat tonight? Give me everything you've got There isn't any recipe We'll just make it up on the spot. How to make Love.

They are easily the best and worst thing about this world. 2. Laughter, the joy that one receives from hearing or telling a joke is incredible. 3. When video games are used to tell a story, when it's done well, the level of immersion is unparalleled. - Munnawar Hashim There are loads! But here are the three I settled on: 1. A child's laughter - the purest sound on earth. 2. The smell of petrichor after the rain in the chill of an early autumn evening. 3. Music. To me music is magic. We were making music before we could talk. It represents humanity simultaneously at its most primal and its most sophisticated and there is not a day goes by when I don't practise gratitude for the fact that I can draw from this magical well. - Mikey Collings I feel magic wandering aimlessly in a place I’ve just arrived for the first time, in a rare moment of authentic connection and when everything is spread out before me, in unrealized potential. - Cati Vanden Breul 1.
